Scrap Instructions #1

I'm always looking for inspiration for my next layout! Sometimes a set of instructions is just what I need! It's like a speed scrap, without the speed! Use these at any time. There is no deadline! And breaking the rules is highly encouraged!

Scrap Instructions #1

1. Choose 2 photos and 5-8 papers. Place one solid or solid-ish paper as your background.

2. Cut your remaining papers into 12" strips, between .5-1 inch wide. Layer the strips along two opposite edges with at least 4 strips on each edge (double some paper strips if necessary to end up with a total of at least 8 strips). Angle all the strips a little so none of their edges line up.

3. Place your photos on opposite edges, tucking each one under at least one paper strip. Frame, mat, or stroke your photos.

4. Create clusters around each of your photos, use at least one string, one fastener (staple, paper clip or stitch) and one tag or word strip.

5. Place a scatter or paint splatter behind each photo.

6. Add a Title and at least three lines of journaling in the middle 'white space'.

7. Date and shadow your layout. And anything else you think it needs.

And of course, my creation using the above instructions:

Kit: Dive Into Valentines {The Scrappy Kat & Mommy Me Time Scrapper}
Font: Happy Hell & Pea Carol

**If you are hosting a speed scrap and don't have time to create your own set of instructions, I'd be honored if you'd like to use one of mine! You can even just use them as a starting point and alter some of the instructions! Let me know if you are going to use them so I can try to make the speed scrap or check out the results afterward! **

  1. Great idea - I do lots of journaling, so I'm always looking for interesting white space layouts which highlight the photos. Thanks so much.
